In Western Society we tend to see things from left to right because of how we read and write. This means we tend to take a horizontal approach to the visual. But horizontal is not always possible, nor preferable. When it comes to signage, we don’t always have the space for horizontal signs. And that’s OK, because the human mind quickly adapts to vertically-oriented text and images, too.
Vertical signs can be used or indoors or outdoors. Outdoors they tend to be quite tall and often identify businesses. Vertical signs are very popular in places where space is at a premium and buildings are beside each other in close quarters. Vertical signs are attached to the walls of buildings via brackets and then they project outward, maximizing visibility. Let’s say you manage a retail store in Johns Creek on a busy street full of shops and restaurants. In such locales there often isn’t the space for a large outdoor business sign in landscape mode. But in portrait mode you can build up until you have the size of sign that you desire. Indoors, spaces can also be tight because of product shelves, customers, or just because of small spaces. Vertical signs indoors tend to be much smaller than their outdoor counterparts for these same reasons.

Michael Maltusch and his team were very prompt in service and gave us some great suggestions to reduce our costs for all of our signs and also did a great job. I would recommend them highly.
